It all started in K or 1st grade when I was introduced the piano. My grade teacher taught me the Jaws Theme song. I took piano lessons for a few years in late elementary to beginning of High School. Quit. Went to college to pursue a science degree to be a veterinarian. Someone saw a passion in me for music and told me I should pursue it. So, I did. I graduated with a Bachelor’s of Arts Degree in Music at Judson College, Marion, AL. During my study, I took a class on Piano Pedagogy. Little did I know, this was the class that would take me places.
First job was to teach to a few students. I picked up teaching real quickly. Learning how students learn basically. Coming up with ideas to help all different types of students from hands-on learners to those who can just listen and pick it up.
From 2015 to present time 2024, I have been teaching each year as a full time job. It is the career door that stayed opened for me. I love every minute of it even if it is hard work and sometimes time consuming.
My favorite thing to do is journal and listen to movie soundtracks. I wanted to work for DreamWorks and help create their movie and show soundtracks. My favorite movie soundtrack would have to be Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows by Alexandre Desplat. Very dark and minor keys all around.
